About
Apapáchame Tierra is an affirmation of the embrace that we feel when we tend to earth, harvest from earth, and create with earth. An apapacho can be translated to an embrace, a loving touch that comes from spirit.
I am an Indigenous mama who was born from the Coast of Oaxaca, and I currently live on ancestral Tohono O’odham land, in so-called Tucson, AZ. I am a weaver, birthworker, and herbalist. I create earth medicine from our garden, small wild harvests, and organic ingredients, including using honey and beeswax from the San Xavier Co-op located in the San Xavier district of the Tohono O’odham Nation. My herbal knowledge is rooted in the knowledge of my mami, tias & abuelitas, and has evolved throughout the years in many different forms – learning from friends that are herbalists / plant people, from books & research, & from dreams & meditation. I honor the guardians of these lands and waters, as these lands have held me through the birth of my child who has guided me deeper into medicine making. Since the womb, our child has connected with the medicines of earth and now as their feet touch the earth and their hands connect with earth medicine they too are a part of this creation process.
Creating these medicines is a tradition that is rooted in my ancestors' relationship with the land and the connection that has existed between mindbodyspirit & medicines that grow from the earth. As our grandmothers tended to the land we continue their legacy of using the earth's medicines for healing.
